Daniel McGowan
Director, Co-Writer, Co-Producer

Dan is a writer/director based in Cardiff. Having been brought up in England and then Wales, he moved to London for 11 years to ply his trade. Now back in Wales he is extremely excited about the possibilities of The Stand, and getting involved in all the thriving film scene stuff that Wales has to offer. In a rugby match, Dan's position of choice would be the second row, but he'd need to grow about 6 inches and become at least 100 times stronger than he currently is. And he'd need to learn how to catch. And he'd need to eat less ice cream. And he'd need to do more exercise.

Recent Credits:
boat - short film (writer/director) - currently nominated for the Brian Hibbard Prize at Cardiff Independent Film Festival 2015
COnscription - installation film and short (assistant director)
Scarlet and Red - feature, in development (writer/director)

Paul Jenkins
co-Writer

Screenwriter, lecturer and theatre-maker, Paul has had his work put on all over  Europe in film, TV, radio and theatre. A graduate of the BBC Writers' Academy, he has lived in Cardiff for several years now and is a keen rugby fan. He thinks he would make a good scrum-half as, in his own modest words, he is 'faster than a herd of gazelles, more alert than a family of meerkats, slippery as an eel'. Which is probably more than enough information...

Recent Credits:
Red Star Newport - Radio 4 Afternoon Play
First Person Shooter  - stage, Birmingham Rep Theatre
Plus One - feature film, dir. Oksana Bychkova (winner - Audience Award, Viborg Film Festival)

James Lucas
Producer

From location manager to production coordinator via a BA in Acting and an MA in Film Producing and Business Management, James has covered lots of film-making areas in his career, while based in Cardiff and now North Wales.

But producing is his love and, with his level-headedness and calm demeanour, he is the perfect foil to the artsy airy-fairyness of Dan and Paul. At least, that's what he claims. His rugby position would be hooker, as he likes being in the centre of things and is under the misapprehension that a scrum is like a big group hug.

Recent Credits:
Role Play - short film (producer)
The Final Haunting - feature (production manager)
The Butcher - viral ad campaign (producer)

Jonathan Dunn
Editor

After graduating from the International Film School of Wales, Jonathan has gone on to forge a successful career in documentary film and television, creating work for such prestigious clients as the BBC, Red & Black Films, the Green Man Festival, the Welsh Assembly, the Ministry of Defence and the Church in Wales. Jonathan has now turned his slick documentary editing skills to the fiction film world. His rugby position would probably be out on the wing so he can run away as he knows all too well his wiry frame would crumple like a piece of paper if caught.

Recent Credits:
The Nightmare - feature documentary-drama (manchester-unit camera & sound)
boat - short film (editor)
Inside The Machine - short documentary (director, camera, editor)
The Art of Foraging - feature documentary (director, camera, editor)

David Rogers
Associate Producer & Researcher

David is a huge rugby fan and talented player in his own right, having a been awarded a Blue in Rugby Union from Oxford University. Not only that, he provides the heartbeat of the project since it was his grandfather, Handel Rogers, who was chairman of Llanelli RFC at the time of The Stand, and is a central character in the film and who’s diary of the trip provide the kernel of the concept. With a seriously impressive background in history, Japanese and business - he has worked for Deloitte for several years - David brings his sharp mind and love of the game to The Stand.

His favoured position would have to be Hooker and, unlike the other 4 fakers, he can genuinely claim to play at this position.

This is David's first film project, but he is already working on a second with this same team - Scarlet and Red.

Camilla Laing
Production Assistant

Camilla isn’t quite sure what she’s let herself in for, putting up with 4 men blithering on about rugby for months on end. But with her natural calm and authority she will keep them on the straight and narrow. Her background is exciting, varied and global: events manager, production & costume assistant, PA & TV Film rider, watersports guide, TV stuntwoman and much more. But her main interest has always been film and TV, with strong experience in adverts, short films and primetime TV dramas.

Her preferred position would be up in a directors’ box with a glass of prosecco while 30 men chase an odd-shaped ball around for 80 minutes a few dozen feet below her.
