The Stand accepted at Carmarthen Bay Film Festival

We are extremely pleased that the prestigious Carmarthen Bay Film Festival 2019 has accepted the Stand, and nominated it for ‘Best Short Made in Wales’. The Festival is in the top 2% of best reviewed festivals worldwide on FilmFreeway (from over 6000 festivals!), and this year’s version looks to be even bigger and even better. We can’t wait to turn up with our film, meet some great film makers and introduce our story to more people.

John Rea writes the score, Bang put the polish on

We've been extremely lucky - BAFTA-winning composer John Rea has joined us to create a beautiful, playful score and 3 fantastic members of Only Men Aloud (Craig Yates, Steffan Rhys Hughes and Stephen Hamnett) have recorded it, bolstered by some stirring brass courtesy of Andrew Griffiths. The music was mixed by Jason Norman and supervised by John, the final VFX shots were added by the magician-like Joe Peecock before the whole film was sent to Bang Post Production to provide their brilliance with the final sound mix and foley.

In the next two weeks director Dan McGowan, editor Jonathan Dunn and composer John Rea will be sitting in with Jon & Nathan from Bang for the final mixing session... and then, at long last, 'The Stand' will be finished.

The Stand in post-production

After a successful shoot in August 2015, The Stand is (somewhat belatedly) in post-production – thanks to the typical myriad delays film making always seems to involve.

The shoot was intense, with long days and some very tricky set ups, but we’re pretty pleased with what we got, thanks in no small part to the efforts of all involved on set – cast and crew.

We anticipate the final cut to be ready sometime in the summer. In the meantime, here are some stills & behind-the-scenes shots to keep you going.

The Stand Kickstarter promo film - screening at Scarlets v Blues!

We are very excited here at The Stand, and usually we are pretty laid back and relaxed and cool and all that*, so it has to be big news.

Not only has our Kickstarter campaign racked up an excellent amount of support already, but we've also been given the chance to screen our brilliant promo film on a very big stage. This Sunday, at half time in the Scarlets v Blues match at Parc y Scarlets, several thousand rugby fans will be shown the film and our merry film-making team will be giving a pitch-side chat.

It's a fantastic opportunity to get more people involved in the film, and to spread the word. And it's thanks to continued support from the Scarlets themselves, to whom we say diolch yn fawr!

We hope to see you there!
